The highlight is at Ada Huja Natural Park on the banks of the Danube, just 5km north of Belgrade city centre. Come along on June 30th (10:00-20:00) for a festival of the river with environmental activities, a green market and great music. Get active for the rivers in discussions on how to revitalise Ada Huja, a natural oasis in the city. Or be inspired by young artists: a 300m painting by children from 24 cities will be unveiled, as well as the winning Danube Art Master creation. The Young Researchers of Serbia are organising the national round of the contest: visit their website.
Danube Day, June 29th, will be marked by the visit of Johannes Hahn, European Commissioner for Regional Policy. The Office for European Integration and the EU Delegation in Serbia will host a Belgrade to Kostolac boat trip, attended by officials involved with the Danube Strategy. Mr Hahn will also visit Novi Sad as part of the celebrations.
Two national competitions are also underway. The first is for best published article on the Danube - whether in print, on-line or broadcast. The second is for best photo image (in association with National Geographic Serbia). Both run until Sept 1st. 50 young people will be taking part in the 6th Student Eco-camp on Great War Island (22nd July-4th August). Events are organised by the Ministry's Directorate for Water and Coca-Cola System, with the support of 350 partners.
